A little personal reflection.

This past summer, I watched a documentary on Simone Biles – her tenacity and childhood trauma brought some memories with which I felt I resonated, I cried for the most part.

With a sigh I thought – I don’t feel alone anymore, Simone used her difficult childhood not as an excuse but as a example to remind me that with determination and dedication you can make something better out of your life even if your childhood wasn’t perfect.

Yes life can be hard sometimes, we don’t always see eye to eye, we don’t get the childhood we would have liked to have? People can be disingenuous, you might have felt rejection or experience church hurt. Whatever that means for you? It is certainly not an excuse for you to dwell on the past and sulk at your circumstances.

Taken by my eldest child on a summer holiday with the family at Talacre Beach North Wales.

If we do we lose out on what God desires for us to accomplish through his work in us. The adversary does a great job at using your feelings, past and flaws to relegate you into losing yourself.
Many characters in the bible dealt with flaws, confusion, doubt, fear, unbelief- whatever their imperfections were God used to help point us to Him.

Recently, I have been helping out at our church doing a sermon series on Habakkuk, based around faith. My final sermon series was on “Faith triumphant” – I am reminded that Jesus kept his faith in his Father while riding on a colt through Jerusalem, he later wept at it because his heart was grieved at the level of ignorance. (Luke 19:41-44).

My friends, triumph isn’t about winning it’s about recognising Gods power displayed in your life through your experiences where your faith is tested. Our ignorance at just the triumph can tempt us to accept that we can do life without Faith in Jesus, yes you might desire the winning streak, the perfect life, job, marriage, career or even followers, but eventually you will keep craving more until it becomes your own demise.

I needed this….

Habakkuk was prayerful but in his opening remarks he was complaining and being hasty. Sometimes in your quest to enquire with God, you need to learn to be silent and accept that what you might bring to him is miniature compared to what He had done and can do for you. Ecclesiastes 5:2b “God is in heaven and you are here on earth so let your words be few”.

I pray that in this season whatever it may be for you? Realise that losing is not defeat ! Giving up is !

A great reminder!

Jesus didn’t give up on you, so why should you give up on you?! (Keep Going)

Love & Light,
Carolyne x
